Power VBT

Velocity-based training from the videos you already film

Power measures mean concentric velocity, bar path and rep timing from your squat, bench press and deadlift videos — right on your phone. No sensor, no upload.

Power VBT set analysis showing mean concentric velocity, a velocity curve, and bar-path overlay
Power VBT 1RM estimate screen for squat, bench press and deadlift

What Power measures

  • Mean concentric velocity for every rep
  • Bar path with synchronized replay
  • Rep timing

Supported lifts for velocity analysis: squat, bench press and deadlift only. Snatch and clean & jerk are not supported.

How it works

  1. 01

    Pick a set video

Choose a squat, bench or deadlift training video from your library, or film with your phone’s Camera app and then select that file. Power does not record live inside the app.

  2. 02

    Analyze on device

Power tracks the bar and calculates velocity, bar path and rep timing. Training videos are never uploaded.

  3. 03

    Build your load-velocity profile

Analyze the same lift at 2–3 different loads. When the data quality is sufficient, Power gives a velocity-based 1RM estimate.

From estimate to measurement

Rep-based formulas (Epley, Brzycki and others) estimate your 1RM from how many reps you did. Velocity adds another view: how fast the bar moved at each load. Power keeps both — the free calculators on MaxRep for quick estimates, and video analysis when you want to see how the set actually moved.

Questions

01

What is a VBT app?

A velocity-based training app measures how fast the barbell moves during each rep. Lifters use bar speed alongside load and RPE to judge effort and adjust training.

02

Do I need a sensor or linear transducer?

No. Power works from video of your set.

03

Which lifts does Power support for VBT?

Squat, bench press and deadlift. Olympic lifts (snatch, clean & jerk) are not supported for velocity analysis.

04

Can I record inside the app?

No. Select an existing training video. Film with the system Camera app if you need a new clip, then import it.

05

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Analysis runs on your device and training videos are never uploaded.

06

How does Power estimate 1RM from velocity?

Analyze the same lift at 2–3 different loads to build a load-velocity profile. When data quality is sufficient, Power provides a velocity-based 1RM estimate. Treat it as a training reference.

07

Is Power free?

Yes, with unlimited video analysis and up to 5 full source videos stored at once. Power Pro adds unlimited local video storage, as an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the App Store and Google Play and vary by storefront.

08

Is it on Android?

Yes. On Google Play (com.knockdream.power), choose a squat, bench press, or deadlift training video. The analysis runs on the device.

09

Is this medical advice?

No. Results are for training reference. Adjust loads for your readiness and consult a qualified coach when appropriate.
